FOUNDER

Wild Trails is more to me than a business — it’s a way of life and a passion built on solid professional skills, experience and a heartfelt desire to share the power of nature with others. My enthusiasm and ideas carry me forward — I see the challenges nature offers as opportunities to test my limits.
Wild Trails - Saara ja unto suolla juoksemassa

What draws me most to the outdoors is how the rest of the world falls away and my senses and thoughts are fully present in the moment, focused on the basics. Through my day job and my hobbies I’ve gained extensive practical experience of wilderness trails and of leading activities for people of all ages.

I love every season, and the nature around Kalajoki offers new experiences throughout the year — the beauty of nature is visible and tangible year-round. In Kalajoki I spend time exploring remote mires, skiing in the Rahja archipelago and riding the endless network of trails by mountain bike. Above all, my feet keep pulling me toward the fells and the mountains of Norway.

I have been active in nature since I was small — hiking, skiing, camping, paddling and cycling — and I know from experience how empowering and balancing nature can be. In nature we learn our limits and how to tolerate discomfort, but these very lessons also bring us closer to ever more wonderful experiences.

I made my first solo trek to Norway when I was just over twenty. During that trip I discovered in the middle of the night — at around 2 °C while pitching the tent — that my sleeping bag had been left in the car. My clothes were wet from river crossings and the wind jacket packed in the rucksack didn’t keep me warm. So we wrapped up in the tent fabric with the dog until we both realised the only option was to keep moving to stay warm. I’ve learned from that experience — by now I know how crucial safe equipment, planning and preparedness are.

My training as a social services professional (sosionomi) gives me a strong foundation for working with people and leading groups — especially when the goal is wellbeing, community and memorable experiences. I can accommodate different needs and create a safe, encouraging atmosphere where everyone can be themselves and experience success.

Nature, for me, is where genuine laughter, tears of joy, adventure and peace are born. Nature turns everyday life into an adventure and movement into joy — that is what I want to offer others.
